The American Petroleum Institute late Tuesday reported a fall of 840,000 barrels in U.S. crude supplies for the week ended April 14, according to sources. The API data, however, also showed a climb of 1.4 million barrels in gasoline supplies, while inventories of distillates declined by 1.8 million barrels, sources said. Supply data from the Energy Information Administration will be released Wednesday morning. Analysts polled by S&P Global Platts forecast a decrease of 50,000 barrels in crude inventories. May crude CLK7, +0.06% was at $52.29 a barrel in electronic trading, down from the contract’s settlement of $52.41 on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
