Our fund raising round was not successful.  As a result, IDB will be going off line and into cold storage.  If our competitors should stumble, I may re-active the site in the future but for now, we're turning out the lights.

I had planned to go off-line on April 4th.  Due to some important and unplanned changes in our maintenance schedule, I am now bumping that up to next Tuesday morning, March 27th, 2018.  PM 'admin' if you need to reach me.

You should use the next 5 days to find a new home for your community.

Running IDB has been fun over the years and I hope you enjoyed your time here as well.  Sincerely,  Paul

P.S. News on IDB Funding -- this is now on it's own page to clean up the site a bit.

8/15: Sweden's Com Hem Launches #TiVo $TIVO

Com Hem launched their public test to 20 TiVo Testers yesterday. So far only two testers have posted to Com Hem's Test Page. The test will conclude mid September following by the hard launch of TiVo to the Com Hem footprint.

8/19/2013 Update: I've attached an unboxing pdf from one of the 20 testers. Note that the Samsung box uses an external power brick. I'm curous whether the new Roamio boxes rumored to be released this week will use an external or internal power supply.

Yesterday it was time for the gang at Com Hem to collect the twenty selected testers of TiVo . For my own part, the trip would have gone from Ystad, but this year's cold resulted in that I got to pick up antibiotics and cough syrup instead of a TiVo box. Talk about anti-climax.

It was fortunate that the kickoff was broadcast live via Bambuser and that I and others who could not attend still got a chance to be on a small corner. You may think that it scratched the fingers when I saw the chairs with bags of Com Hem logo and stacks with TiVo boxes. But those who wait for something good ... (usually wait very long)

Since TiVo is a technological gadget, it's like Christmas in my mind now, and it will be exciting to see what this little tingest has to offer. It must be said that when I signed my interest to test TiVo so I did not know what to expect and the first thing I read did not help to create some positive vibes directly. The more I read and after the brief introduction we received yesterday as expectations have been raised and now TiVo really deliver.

My experience of myself saying that I'm very conservative when it comes to television and movie viewing. I like fixed times when software appears and I like to buy a movie on DVD. This despite the fact that I would jump on and testing of virtually all technological gadgets and solutions I can find. I think therefore that TiVo will have to add something extra to get me out of the habit swamp and into the flexible television watching'S universe. We'll see how it goes.

First, I'll endure an entire weekend waiting for my box to arrive in the mail early next week.

Returning home from the meeting in Stockholm. It was close to the forgotten at the bus stop - but it came home ;-)
Soon it will be installation - will be exciting to get started!

How does it look?

A quick public search reveals that the GX-CM700CF is a Samsung box
